HONOR X5ds: what this model actually offers

The HONOR X5ds, also written by HONOR as X5d s, is a 4G Android phone with an unusual feature for its class: a 2.01-inch rear display that works alongside its 6.78-inch main screen. It carries a Unisoc T610 processor, a 50 MP main camera, a 6000 mAh typical battery and 15W wired charging. These are specifications of the South African version, not proof of a Pakistani retail launch.

The phone is aimed at practical use rather than demanding gaming or professional mobile photography. Its combination of a large screen, basic chipset and small rear interaction panel makes it different from the similarly named HONOR X5d. The names are easy to confuse, but those products are not technically interchangeable.

Two screens instead of one

The main display is a 6.78-inch LCD with 720 × 1576 resolution. HONOR describes a refresh rate up to 90 Hz, which can make menus and compatible scrolling appear smoother than a standard 60 Hz interface. Screen size is generous for messages, maps and forms, but the HD-class pixel count means small text and detailed images will not look as fine as on a high-resolution OLED display.

The rear panel adds a 2.01-inch screen with a resolution of 240 × 296 pixels. Its purpose is not to replace the main screen. Instead, HONOR describes functions such as checking call alerts, viewing media information and helping frame a rear-camera selfie. These are useful conveniences if you frequently set your phone face down or want a quick glance without opening the main display.

An extra display also changes the way a phone should be protected. Choose a case that is designed for this exact rear module, and check that its cutouts do not block the panel or cameras. A case made for the ordinary X5d may not fit.

Performance and available memory

The Unisoc T610 contains two Cortex-A75 and six Cortex-A55 CPU cores, listed by HONOR at up to 1.8 GHz. This is entry-level hardware suitable for voice calls, mobile banking, messaging, web browsing, music playback and simple apps. It is not a basis for promising smooth high-detail graphics in demanding games.

HONOR specifies 4 GB of physical RAM with another 4 GB of storage-based memory expansion. The advertised 8(4+4) GB figure must not be mistaken for 8 GB of installed physical RAM. Background app handling depends on the real RAM, software and available storage.

The 64 GB built-in storage capacity is sufficient for a modest collection of apps and photos, but large offline video libraries can fill it quickly. MicroSD expansion up to 1 TB is supported. External card capacity helps store media, although card speed and app-installation rules may differ from internal storage.

Android Go and everyday software

This model runs Android 16 Go edition according to HONOR’s regional specification. Go edition is intended for lower-memory devices and should not be confused with a standard Android build simply because the version number is the same. Some app features may depend on available RAM, Google services and the region-specific firmware.

For Pakistan, software compatibility should be checked on the exact device being offered. In particular, verify that the important banking, work, transport and authentication apps you use are supported. The overseas specification does not establish a guaranteed local operating-system update schedule.

Main camera, selfies and video

The rear camera is a 50 MP f/1.8 unit. Its high-resolution mode may be helpful for bright scenes and documents, while everyday results still depend on processing, light and movement. A 4× digital zoom option crops or processes the captured image; it does not provide a separate optical telephoto lens.

There is a 5 MP front camera with an f/2 aperture. Both rear and front video specifications reach 1080p. No trustworthy independent testing is being claimed here, so these figures should be read as hardware capabilities rather than evidence of particular night-photo or video-stabilization performance.

The secondary rear display is most distinctive when composing selfies with the main rear camera. It provides framing assistance without implying that the rear display has its own dedicated imaging sensor.

Battery, charging and resilience

HONOR separates the 6000 mAh typical battery from its 5850 mAh rated capacity. They describe one battery using different measurement conventions, not two models with different packs. The 15W wired charging specification is comparatively modest, so a full recharge may take longer than on phones that support higher-power charging.

Large battery capacity helps support longer intervals between charges, but actual endurance changes with screen brightness, rear-display use, poor signal strength and demanding apps. No specific screen-on-time or number-of-days claim is warranted without controlled testing.

The X5ds has an IP52 protection rating. That means limited dust ingress protection and resistance to certain dripping-water conditions, not full waterproofing. Avoid treating the phone as suitable for underwater use, heavy water jets or charging while wet.

Connectivity and Pakistani buying checks

HONOR lists dual Nano-SIM operation, 4G LTE, 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, a USB Type-C connection and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. Fingerprint and face-recognition features are listed. The regional device also supports multiple satellite navigation systems for location services.

Before buying an imported unit, compare the printed model identifier, supported network bands and available warranty. A phone appearing on an overseas HONOR product page is not automatic confirmation of a Pakistani warranty, official local stock or PTA approval of an individual handset.

No trustworthy current Pakistani retail price has been established for this exact configuration. For a fair comparison, match the 4 GB physical RAM, 64 GB storage, rear display and battery specifications rather than relying on a similar-looking X5 phone name.

Should you consider the HONOR X5ds?

The strongest reason to consider the HONOR X5ds is the practical combination of a roomy screen, large battery and small rear interaction display. It is a reasonable specification fit for basic smartphone duties when local price and compliance are independently established.

Its main trade-offs are modest physical RAM, limited built-in storage, a lower-resolution LCD and relatively slow 15W charging. Buyers who prefer a sharper display, faster gaming hardware or more versatile cameras should compare other verified options before treating this phone as an automatic upgrade.
